The Shoe Trends of 2013

The runways of New York, Milan, London and Paris showcased the newest trends in footwear for 2013. What is apparent is that shoes with architectural influences are going to be the biggest trend this year. Skyscraper heels with sculptural shapes and a burst of colors were a popular shoe style in the runways. Flats are also still a favorite shoe style this year what with the comfort that they provide in comparison to everything else in the market. Here are some of the styles presented in the Spring 2013 runways.

Metallics

Metallic shoes and sandals especially in the silver foil color are a big thing in 2013. They were all over the runways in fashion week. Metal accents against neutral colored shoes were also evident in the collections of many designers including Emporio Armani, Dior, Lanvin and Chloe. Metallic heels in particular with pointy toes could be the shoe style of the New Year.

The Chunky Heels

Chunky heels were sported by the models of designers like Chanel, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga and a host of other designers in the runways presenting the trends of spring 2013. Chunky they may be but they certainly add a lot more oomph to any outfit you may be wearing even if they are worn with a simple tee and jeans.

Iridescence

Designers who chose iridescent-colored shoes in snakeskin and patent leather included Dior, Stella McCartney, Alejandro Ingelmo and Rebecca Minkoff. Whether alone or combined with snakeskin and patent leather, shoes in iridescent colors are sure to be a hit to the trendy crowds.

Architectural shoes

Seen at Fendi, Rodarte and Jen Kao among others, the architectural shoes that hit the runway had an amazing amount of details. Simpler styles but no less architectural were presented by Missoni, Guy Laroche and J. Crew.

The Best Bags for Spring 2013

The new season is upon us so it is time to pick out the best designer bags for spring 2013. We saw a lot of accessories on the runways of New York, Milan and Paris and there were a lot of them to get excited about. There were sleek satchels, pocketbook bags, oversized leather clutches, and a bevy of enticing accessories laying the groundwork for truly exciting season. Noticeable was a focus on day bags, small clutches and a whole lot of interesting tiny bags which seemed to be the focus for the season. Bottom line is it is time to shop for new bags for the season so better start saving up pennies for that shopping extravaganza.

The following is my wish list for bags this spring. These bags are packed with possibilities and reflect the mood of the season.

Adult Bed Rails for Our Aging Parents

It is difficult for any son or daughter to see their parents age and become less mobile and increasingly dependent on others to care for themselves. Some have opted to act as caregivers for their parents rather than place them in homes to be cared for by total strangers. For these individuals, the ParentGiving store was established precisely to assist them in providing better care for their aging parents. They also have a website where you can find detailed information on a variety of care-giving topics, on-call professionals that can assist the caregiver when needed, as well as a store where products and supplies that fit the needs of the elderly as they go through their twilight years.

Indeed, it is a comprehensive website where thousands of products can be found that are designed to assist seniors and caregivers of these seniors in the sometimes difficult task of caring for the elderly. It offers hundreds of articles about elderly care with topics ranging from incontinence to legal issues.

The Parentgiving Store is a must-see where a wide variety of elderly care products can be found. There are products which are necessarily installed to promote bathroom safety. John Galliano Comebacking with Oscar Dela Renta

News has reached us that John Galliano is set to “re-immerse” himself in the fashion world via a temporary residency with the house of Oscar dela Renta. It will be remembered that he was forced to move out of the House of Dior in 2011 for making anti-Semitic remarks in a café in Paris. WWD has said that he will be working in New York at the house of Oscar dela Renta for the coming three weeks which, we surmise, signals the start of his fashion comeback.

In a statement, dela Renta explains that he and Galliano have been friends for years and he is a great admirer of the latter’s talent. Galliano, in turn, says he is grateful to dela Renta for the opportunity. He says, “His faith in me is humbling.”

Galliano left the fashion world in very controversial circumstances. He was arrested; after which Dior and even his own brand fired him from his designer posts. He went into rehab and withdrew from public life after 15 years as Dior’s creative director. He expressed his sincerest apologies to the Jewish communities and has promised to make amends for his mistakes in the past.

Interestingly, the Anti-Defamation League, an organization that fights against anti-Semitism expressed their support for his return to fashion. They opined that they believe in giving individuals second chances and that Galliano has expressed true contrition for his mistake.

Although the details of his comeback have not been divulged completely, the fashion world is hoping to see his fantastic creations on the runway once again.  Welcome back, Galliano!

The Best Frocks on the Golden Globe 2013 Red Carpet

Let us see who rocked the red carpet at the recently held Golden Globe Awards 2013. It seems that the red carpet was not the only thing in that color that day. Red was the color of choice of a lot of Hollywood’s brightest stars in attendance at the event. Marion Cotillard was in a red strapless asymmetric number by Dior. Naomi Watts chose to wear a gown by Zac Porsen in deep red. Jennifer Lawrence was also in a strapless, bright red creation by Dior. She accented the waist-cinched outfit with a thin, black belt. Taylor Swift was in a plum gown with a fishtail by Donna Karan which she paired with a ballerina low-bun for her hairdo.

Other stars in attendance were smashing, too, but not in red. Anne Hathaway was in a white strapless gown by Chanel while co-star Amanda Seyfried went for something in nude by Givenchy. Jessica Castain was every bit of a mermaid in her sea foam halter necked gown from the Calvin Klein Collection which she fearlessly paired with Harry Winston diamonds worth $3M. Lucy Liu, in the meantime, was in a strapless princess gown in blue from Carolina Herrera.
