Trend Report for Spring 2013

What is in for 2013? Let us start with the art of contrast. Marc Jacobs, Narciso Rodriguez and Jill Sander all went back-to-basics in black and white. After seasons of bright colors, prints and grand embellishments, these designers set the comeback of the basics in the designs they recently presented on the runway.

The likes of Roberto Cavalli, Reed Krakoff and Haider Ackerman, among others, made use of sheer materials such as chiffon, organza and mousseline when they presented their latest collections.

Ruffles, flounces and deep frills were also seen in the various runways for spring 2013. Established designers like Gucci, Givenchy and Balanciaga showed necklines edged with frills and slits of skirts were flounced flamenco-style.

My Favorite Shimmery Make-Ups for the Holidays

It is party time and what better way to beautify yourself for those ooooh so lavish parties than to shimmer up in style. But if you do decide to shimmer, do it with the right dose. No need to look like you are about to attend the Miss Universe pageant.

Let us start with Givenchy L’Argent Celeste. Lightly dust your décolletage wit this silver shimmer or highlight your cheekbones and eyelids with it. Spray it on your hands first then apply the shimmer with a brush or your fingertips. Watch that you don’t go overboard though or you will look like part of the glittering Christmas decorations.

Add some flair to your nail tips with Yves Saint Laurent La Laque Couture in Premiere Neige. This shimmer-flecked polish is enough to give your nails an enchanting iridescence or add dimension to your perfectly varnished tips.

Put on some mascara on your eyelids. Then lightly add Sephora Glitter Eyeliner and Mascara in Sassy Silver to the tips of your lashes. They will look like tiny specks of snowflakes caught on your eyelashes.

Add shine to your lips with Hourglass Extreme Sheen High Shine Lip Gloss in Imagine. Put on a classic red lipstick. Then dot the champagne-colored gloss over the center of your lips. The effect will simply be smashing. Then pour yourself some champagne and enjoy the round of Christmas parties this season.

Taylor Swift’s Fashion Evolution

Twitter was all abuzz about Taylor Swift on Thursday morning, December 13 and rightly so. It was the pop princess’ birthday that day. In honor of her 23rd, we are dedicating this post to her for her special day.

It used to be that the pop princess drenched herself in sequins. We have seen her grace the red carpet in her tried and tested strapless gown, princess smile and her wavy, golden locks cascading over her shoulders. For the longest time, that was her mark.

In 2012, it seems that her style has matured. The ever-present glitzy gowns seem to have gone and a bevy of retro-style tea-length dresses suddenly appeared. We even saw her in skinny jeans and a minimalist gown in white with straight hair (GASP!) and a blunt fringe. We aren’t really sure whether this style evolution has to do with the evolution of her boyfriends but whatever the reason; we are pleased with the transformation.

Let’s take a look at her style evolution which seems to have coincided with the fashion style of her boyfriend of the moment.
