Party-Dressing Tips for that Christmas Party

While the perennial fall-back of every girl is the little black dress, it may not necessarily be the best choice for that one Christmas party which is always the season’s hit. Instead of cowering in a corner in the usual LBD, it might be better to try an outfit in festive colors in keeping with the festive spirit of the season. Red is the merriest color so why not party in red? If red is not your color, try the unexpected punches of color in kelly green, fuchsia, orange or royal blue.

Nina Dobrev, Ginnifer Godwin and Roksanda Ilincic certainly wowed the crowd in these powerful palette colors so why not try to make a brilliant statement with bright colors this season?

Shoes that make a statement such as those embellished with spikes or cut-outs are not just sexy; they are also edgy. Strappy or pointy shoes are sure winners, too. But when in doubt, go metallic – they flatter the skin and go with almost everything.

An extra dose of glam for a rocking Christmas party certainly wouldn’t hurt. A sequined number for a sparkling outfit or a low back would be perfect ideas for a standout outfit. You can even try mixing textures like sequins on velvet or brocade with velvet. They bring a rich and luxurious feel to your outfit that is perfect for celebrating the most festive of seasons.

Demi Lovato certainly did not fail to please when she donned this sequined party dress for the MTV Music Awards. She paired it with a leather jacket from Topshop.

Stick to the simple and sleek cuts when outfitting you for a party this season. Shapes that flatter and colors that are bold make a statement that makes you stand out in the crowd. Bold prints that help to flatter the figure and draw the eyes to all the right places can be the perfect weapon to turn you from drab to sexy. Remember, too, that comfort is the key. You look your best when you are comfortable.

If your dress, jewelry or shoes are already making statements, do keep your hair and makeup sleek and understated. However, understated attire deserves a more interesting up-do. You certainly shouldn’t be a wallflower this holiday season.

Instead of wearing a party dress, why not be a little daring and opt for a jumpsuit? Remember to pair it with heels though, for height. But do make sure that they are comfortable so you can dance the night away.
